These groups provide education and advocate for people with behavioral health disorders.

Anxiety Disorders Association of America
ADAA is dedicated to informing the public, health care professionals, and media that anxiety disorders are real, serious, and treatable.

Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center
The PRC conducts interdisciplinary research on services for individuals who have serious mental illness. It specializes in developing effective interventions under research conditions, then translating these interventions into actual mental health service practices and evaluating their effectiveness in routine practice settings.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance
DBSA provides tools and information to help people living with mood disorders. The organization works to ensure that people living with mood disorders are treated equitably.

Dual Diagnosis Recovery Network
The Dual Diagnosis Recovery Network advocates for better treatment standards for individuals with co-occurring disorders. The organization works with chemical dependency, mental health, consumer and family advocacy organizations to educate and publicize the need for more services that are appropriate for co-occurring disorders.

Karla Smith Foundation
KSF provides hope for a balanced life to family and friends of anyone with a mental illness or who lost a loved one to suicide.

Mental Health America
Mental Health America is the country's leading nonprofit dedicated to helping ALL people live mentally healthier lives. MHA members include people who have been personally affected by mental illness and addiction, their family members, and mental health professionals, public policy advocates, and researchers.

MindFreedom International
MFI is an independent nonprofit coalition defending human rights and promoting humane alternatives for mental and emotional well being.

National Alliance on Mental Illness
NAMI is a grassroots organization dedicated to the eradication of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life for people who are affected by mental illnesses.

National Empowerment Center, Inc.
The mission of the National Empowerment Center Inc. is to carry a message of recovery, empowerment, hope and healing to people who have been labeled with mental illness.

National Mental Health Consumers' Self-Help Clearinghouse
The National Mental Health Consumers' Self-Help Clearinghouse works to foster consumer empowerment through its web site, up-to-date news and information announcements, a directory of consumer-driven services, electronic and printed publications, training packages, and individual and onsite consultation.
